Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 3 cups
- Granulated sugar: 1/2 cup
- Baking powder: 1 tablespoon
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Milk: 1 1/4 cups
- Egg: 1 large
- Melted butter: 1/4 cup
- Cinnamon sugar mixture: 1/2 cup granulated sugar mixed with 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
- Step 4: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Step 5: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon sugar layer, then sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
- Step 6: Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Store cooled donut bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain its soft texture.
- Reheat slices in the microwave for 15-20 seconds or in a toaster oven for a minute for a warm, comforting treat.
- Serve slices with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra-indulgent dessert.
- Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry just until combined; a few streaks of flour are okay to ensure a tender crumb.
