Ingredients
Scale
- 6–8 Apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold butter, cut into cubes
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, oats, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Step 3: Cut in the cold butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Step 4: Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
- Step 5: Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Notes
- Store leftover apple crisp in the refrigerator, covered, for up to 3 days to maintain its texture.
- For a warm and comforting treat, reheat individual servings in the microwave for 30-60 seconds, or until heated through.
- Serve your apple crisp warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for the ultimate indulgence.
- Ensure the butter is very cold for the topping, as this helps create those perfectly crumbly clusters when baked.
