Ingredients
- Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade): 1 pound
- Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
- Tomato sauce: 1 cup
- Fresh mozzarella cheese: 8 ounces, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves: 1/4 cup
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Salt: to taste
- Black pepper: to taste
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 475°F (246°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
- Step 2: On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness and shape.
- Step 3: Brush the pizza dough with olive oil, then spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle the minced garlic over the sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
- Step 4: Arrange the mozzarella slices evenly over the tomato sauce.
- Step 5: Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated pizza stone or a baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Step 6: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly. Top with fresh basil leaves and serve immediately.
Notes
- Leftover pizza is best stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Reheat slices in a dry skillet over medium heat for a crispy crust.
- Serve with a drizzle of high-quality balsamic glaze for an extra touch of sweetness and acidity.
- For a more intense garlic flavor, sauté the minced garlic in olive oil for a minute before spreading it on the dough.
