Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Italian Sausage
- 1 jar (24 oz) Marinara Sauce
- 15 lasagna noodles (oven-ready, no boil)
- 15 oz Ricotta Cheese
- 1 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1 Egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp Italian Seasoning
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brown Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain any excess grease.
- Step 2: Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning into the skillet with the sausage. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and 1/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
- Step 4: Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer 5 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.
- Step 5: Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, then top with half of the remaining meat sauce. Repeat layers: noodles, ricotta mixture, and meat sauce. Finish with a final layer of noodles, meat sauce, mozzarella cheese, and the remaining Parmesan cheese.
- Step 6: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For easier slicing, let the lasagna cool for a full 15 minutes before serving – patience is a virtue!
- Leftover lasagna can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, ready for a quick and tasty meal.
- Reheat individual slices in the microwave or the whole pan covered in foil in a 350°F oven until warmed through.
- For extra flavor, try adding a layer of thinly sliced zucchini or spinach between the ricotta and meat sauce layers.
