Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe avocados
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1–2 tablespoons lime juice, to taste
- 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium-sized bowl.
- Step 2: Mash the avocados with a fork to your desired consistency. Some people prefer a chunky guacamole, while others like it smoother.
- Step 3: Add the chopped onion, tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice, jalapeño (if using), salt, and cumin (if using) to the mashed avocado.
- Step 4: Gently stir all the ingredients together until well combined, being careful not to over-mash the avocados.
- Step 5: Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more lime juice for tanginess or salt for flavor.
Notes
- To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole and refrigerate.
- Guacamole is best served fresh and is not typically reheated.
- Serve guacamole with tortilla chips, as a topping for tacos, or alongside grilled meats for a flavorful addition.
- For the best flavor, use avocados that yield to gentle pressure but aren't overly soft.
