Delicious delicious baked honey bbq popcorn chicken recipe recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs Boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 4 cups Air-popped popcorn (no butter or salt)
  • 1 cup Honey BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. Step 2: In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, and pepper. In another shallow dish, whisk together milk and egg. Place the popcorn in a large zip-top bag and crush it into smaller pieces with a rolling pin.
  3. Step 3: Dip each chicken piece in the flour mixture, then in the milk/egg mixture, and finally coat thoroughly with the crushed popcorn.
  4. Step 4: Arrange the coated chicken pieces on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are not overcrowded.
  5. Step 5: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the popcorn is golden brown.
  6. Step 6: While the chicken is baking, warm the Honey BBQ sauce in a saucepan over low heat. Once chicken is done, toss with warm BBQ sauce. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For best results, reheat in a preheated oven or air fryer to re-crisp the popcorn coating.
  • Serve this popcorn chicken with a side of creamy coleslaw or crispy fries for a complete meal.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of smoked paprika to the flour mixture before coating the chicken.
