Ingredients
Scale
- 2 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons melted butter or coconut oil
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Step 1: Wash, core, and slice the apples into 1/4-inch thick "fry" shapes. Place the apple fries in a bowl and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Step 2: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar.
- Step 3: Drizzle the melted butter or coconut oil over the apple fries, then toss to coat.
- Step 4: Add the flour mixture to the apples and toss to ensure the apple fries are evenly coated.
- Step 5: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- Step 6: Arrange the apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover apple fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, but note they will lose some crispness.
- To re-crisp the fries, air fry them again for 2-3 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
- Serve these delicious apple fries with a dollop of vanilla Greek yogurt or a caramel dipping sauce for an extra-special treat.
- For the crispiest fries, ensure the apple slices are uniformly cut and not overcrowded in the air fryer basket, working in batches if needed.
