Ingredients
- Steak (Sirloin or Flank), 1.5 lbs
- Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce, 3 peppers, finely chopped
- Adobo Sauce, 2 tablespoons
- Olive Oil, 2 tablespoons
- Garlic, 3 cloves, minced
- Lime Juice, 2 tablespoons
- Cumin, 1 teaspoon
- Oregano, 1 teaspoon, dried
Instructions
- Step 1: In a bowl, combine chopped chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, minced garlic, lime juice, cumin, oregano, and olive oil. Mix well to create a marinade.
- Step 2: Place the steak in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is fully coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, for maximum flavor.
- Step 3: Remove the steak from the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking to allow it to come to room temperature.
- Step 4: Heat a grill or a cast-iron skillet over high heat. Sear the steak for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your desired level of doneness.
- Step 5: Remove the steak from the grill or skillet and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
Notes
- For leftovers, store sliced steak in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, warm sliced steak gently in a skillet with a splash of broth to prevent it from drying out.
- Serve this chipotle steak in tacos, burritos, or over a vibrant cilantro-lime rice bowl.
- Don't skip the resting time; it's crucial for a juicy and tender steak.
