Delicious banana pudding tres leches cake recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour: 2 cups
  • Granulated sugar: 1 1/2 cups
  • Eggs: 4 large
  • Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
  • Milk: 1/2 cup
  • Sweetened condensed milk: 1 can (14 ounces)
  • Evaporated milk: 1 can (12 ounces)
  • Heavy cream: 1 cup
  • Ripe bananas: 3 medium
  • Instant vanilla pudding mix: 1 package (3.4 ounces)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and baking powder. In a separate bowl, beat eggs until light and fluffy. Add vanilla extract and milk to the eggs. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  2. Step 2: Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
  3. Step 3: In a large bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream. Gently poke holes all over the cooled cake with a fork. Gradually pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
  4. Step 4: Prepare the instant vanilla pudding according to package directions. Slice two bananas.
  5. Step 5: Spread the prepared pudding over the soaked cake. Arrange the sliced bananas over the pudding layer. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld. Slice the last banana right before serving and arrange them for decoration.

Notes

  • To prevent the cake from becoming soggy, store any leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • This cake is best served cold, so there's no need to reheat it – just grab a slice straight from the fridge!
  • For an extra touch of elegance, garnish each slice with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of crushed vanilla wafers before serving.
  • Don't rush the soaking process; allowing the cake to fully absorb the milk mixture is key to achieving that signature Tres Leches tenderness.
